Suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna, accused of sexually assaulting multiple women, broke his silence on Wednesday and said that "truth will prevail soon".
Revanna, who is the grandson of former PM HD Deve Gowda, reportedly fled the country as allegations against him gathered heat.
In a letter to the police on Prajwal's behalf, his advocate said that the suspended JD(S) leader will need 7 days time to appear before the probe team since he is currently not in Bengaluru.
Prajwal is accused in an alleged sex scandal which is being investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Karnataka government.
In his first response since the controversy erupted, Prajwal said on X that he is not in Bengaluru currently and has communicated the same to CID.
"As I am not in Bangalore to attend the enquiry, I have communicated to C.I.D Bangalore through my Advocate. Truth will prevail soon," he wrote.
He is believed to have escaped to Germany shortly after polling in the first phase of elections in the state got over on April 26, in which Prajwal was the JD(S)-BJP combine's candidate from Hassan.
Sex scandal rowSeveral “explicit video clips” allegedly featuring Prajwal were being circulated in Haasan over the last few days.
The pen drives containing these clips were being widely distributed ahead of polling in Haasan.
Meanwhile, a woman who worked as a house help at Prajwal Revanna's residence accused him and his father of “sexually assaulting and harassing female workers”.
She said HD Revanna - the son of HD Deve Gowda - would “summon women to the storeroom, touch them inappropriately, and sexually assault them by removing their saree pins”.
