Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that leaders of opposition bloc INDIA are "scared of Pakistan's nuclear power", days after National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah warned about the neighbouring country possessing atom bombs.
Speaking at an election rally in Bihar's Muzaffarpur, PM Modi said that the INDIA bloc seems to have leaders who have "nightmares about Pakistan's nuclear power," without directing referring to Farooq Abdullah.
Last week, the NC chief said that Pakistan possesses nuclear weapons that could be used against India while reacting to defence minister Rajnath Singh's statement about merging Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) with India.
In his fiery counter to Abdullah's remark, PM Modi quipped: "If Pakistan does not wear bangles, we will make the country wear them. I knew they did not have foodgrains. Now, I come to know they do not even have adequate supply of bangles".
"But, we must look carefully at the opposition which seems to be full of cowards and timid people, who give a clean chit to Pakistan on terrorism, raise doubts on surgical strikes' their Left allies even want our nuclear arsenal to be dismantled," he said.
Earlier, during campaigning in Rajasthan's Churu, PM Modi said that new India is fearless and takes stern action if (and when) provoked.
"Today, even the enemy is aware that this is new India under Modi which is fearless and takes stern action when the need arises. They know that the new India strikes within enemy territory," he said in an apparent reference to counterstrikes in Pakistan after terror attacks.
