Haryana witnessed a voter turnout of 55.93 percent in its 10 Lok Sabha seats by 5 pm, with polling remaining peaceful throughout the day, according to officials. Although polling concluded at 6 pm, the turnout is expected to rise as there were still people waiting in queues to cast their votes. Officials reported smooth polling across the state.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the overall voter turnout stood at 70 percent.
Additionally, voting took place for the bypoll to the Karnal assembly seat, where Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is contesting. This bypoll was necessitated by the resignation of his predecessor, Manohar Lal Khattar.
According to Election Commission (EC) data, the overall turnout increased from 8.31 percent at 9 am to 36.48 percent at 1 pm and reached 55.93 percent at 5 pm.
As per EC data, Sirsa had the highest turnout at 59.57 percent until 5 pm, followed by Ambala at 58.44 percent and Kurukshetra at 58.38 percent. Gurugram registered the lowest turnout at 51.75 percent.
Bhiwani-Mahendragarh recorded a turnout of 56.11 percent, Faridabad 53.64 percent, Hisar 53.85 percent, Karnal 55.71 percent, Rohtak 58.28 percent, and Sonipat 55.49 percent.
All the 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana - Ambala, Kurukshetra, Sirsa, Hisar, Karnal, Sonipat, Rohtak, Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, Gurgaon and Faridabad - voted this phase.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) contested all 10 seats on its own. The key opposition party Congress contended nine seats, while Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) contested on the lone seat of Kurukshetra. In the 2019 elections, the BJP secured all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana.
Haryana Lok Sabha election: Key candidates
AAP has fielded state unit chief Sushil Gupta from Kurukshetra. He is facing BJP's Naveen Jindal and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD)'s Abhay Singh Chautala.
From Hisar, Power Minister Ranjit Singh Chautala, an Independent MLA who joined the BJP ahead of the polls, is pitted against two members of the Chautala clan -- JJP's Naina Chautala and INLD's Sunaina Chautala. Congress' Jai Prakash is also in the fray.
Union minister Inderjit Singh and Krishan Pal Gurjar are seeking re-election from Gurugram and Faridabad seats, respectively. The Congress has fielded its senior leader Raj Babbar from Gurugram.
Congress' Deepender Singh Hooda is up against BJP's Arvind Sharma in Rohtak. In Sirsa, BJP's Ashok Tanwar is pitted against Congress' Kumari Selja.
In Karnal, Manohar Lal Khattar is contesting against Congress candidate Divyanshu Buddhiraja.
There are 2,00,76,768 registered voters in the state, including 94,23,956 women and 467 transgender voters.

ECI has said that at a time only one voter can enter the booth but in some places, people tag along with the voter inside the voting booth, said Sharma. He added that the administration is strict and alert and there are no complaints about booth capturing.
