Ending days of speculation, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday named the 50-year-old first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh Rekha Gupta as the next chief minister of Delhi.

The decision was made at a meeting of all newly-elected BJP MLAs at the party headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday evening. Rekha Gupta is a seasoned BJP leader with a long political career rooted in student leadership.
