The Central Government officially appointed Nidhi Tewari as PM Modi’s Private Secretary via a memorandum issued on March 29, 2025.

She is a 2014-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer with significant administrative experience.

Prior to this appointment, she served as Deputy Secretary in the PMO since November 2022.

She worked as Under Secretary in the Disarmament and International Security Affairs Division (MEA), handling external affairs, atomic energy, and security matters.

She was also responsible for Rajasthan-related affairs during her tenure at MEA.

Tewari secured AIR 96 in the UPSC Civil Services Exam (2013).

Before joining civil services, she worked as Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Tax) in Varanasi while preparing for UPSC.

She hails from Mehmurganj, Varanasi, which is PM Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency since 2014.

She succeeds Vivek Kumar and Hardik Shah, who previously held the position of PM’s Private Secretary.
