Hyderabad witnessed a noticeable drop in temperatures on Tuesday, with early morning readings settling near 13°C. The day is expected to warm up gradually, touching a maximum of around 28°C by afternoon, before cooling again to about 18°C later in the day. Light winds, blowing at nearly 7.7 km/h, will add to the chill as the city moves into a cooler-than-usual week.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave advisory for several parts of Telangana, warning that minimum temperatures may fall by 3-4°C over the next 24 hours. This drop could push temperatures into single digits in some districts, marking one of the season’s sharpest dips so far.

An orange alert has been issued for districts including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy. According to the IMD, cold wave conditions are expected to persist in these regions from December 8 to December 12, with residents advised to take precautionary measures.

Severe cold wave conditions have already gripped several parts of the state between Sunday evening and Monday morning. Many districts reported single-digit lows, with the Hyderabad Central University campus in Serilingampally recording the city’s lowest temperature at 8.4°C. Sangareddy and Komaram Bheem Asifabad were among the coldest spots, each touching 6.6°C.

For Hyderabad and surrounding areas, including Greater Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad and Bhongir, the IMD expects minimum temperatures to remain between 11°C and 15°C through the week.

While the city may not be as cold as the northern Telangana districts under the orange alert, residents can still expect chilly mornings and cooler evenings as the winter pattern intensifies across the state.
