Behind bars for months on false charges of attempted murder before being acquitted, a Madhya Pradesh youth rose from adversity to success, earning selection as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) through MPPSC, proudly donning the Khaki uniform.
29-year-old Jainendra Nigam, of Bhind, secured 12th rank in the MPPSC results. Before achieving his dream, Nigam went through severe hardships — his father was booked under the NSA, and his family endured a tragic accident.
Speaking to The Times of India, Nigam said, “I harbour no feelings of revenge. My sole desire is to bring joy to my family. I’m content that I was able to realise my father’s dream.”
“After an attack, my house was looted and burned down. Later, FIRs were lodged against my father, brother and me and we were put behind bars,” Nigam told the newspaper, recalling the false FIRs filed against him and his family.
Explaining the circumstances behind the multiple FIRs, Nigam said, “We came from a strong background, and some villagers wanted to seize my family’s land. When we declined, they began to play dirty.”
After securing bail in January 2021, Nigam shifted to Indore to prepare for the MPPSC exam, relying on financial help from relatives. His preparation unfolded amid repeated Covid lockdowns and the emotional toll of a serious accident in which his mother and brother were critically injured.
He was acquitted of all charges in August last year. Even then, his resolve continued to be tested as he battled malaria and typhoid during the crucial mains exam. Determined not to give up, he sat for all his papers while receiving IV drips twice a day.
