A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and businessman Ashok Chandak has filed a police complaint alleging a Rs 30 crore extortion threat by gangsters Rohit Godara and Harry Boxer, both believed to be working under the Lawrence Bishnoi-Goldy Brar syndicate. Chandak’s FIR has brought to light a fresh extortion case in Rajasthan’s Sriganganagar district, adding to the growing list of criminal operations linked to the notorious gang, FPJ reported.
The threats come in the wake of a daylight firing incident on June 17 targeting Chandak’s business associate, Ashish Gupta. Gupta narrowly escaped the attack. Just days later, on June 20, Chandak and his son Raghav reportedly began receiving threatening calls and audio messages from members of the gang, demanding a ransom of Rs 30 crore.
In the FIR lodged at Kotwali police station, Chandak claimed that Rohit Godara, a known aide of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and Harry Boxer, issued death threats against his family. As per FPJ, the threats were reportedly sent via audio messages and calls from multiple unknown numbers. “We’ll give you such a shock that you’ll remember for life. Even your police guards won’t be able to save you. No one will be left in your family to enjoy the wealth you’ve earned,” one of the messages reportedly said.
Chandak said his family, which has lived in Sriganganagar for over 70 years, is now in fear. He stated that Raghav, his only son among three brothers’ families, also received missed calls and threatening messages. On June 22, Raghav received a call from Harry Boxer reiterating the ransom demand. This was followed by another threat on June 24.
The FIR also mentioned that the attack on Ashish Gupta was allegedly ordered by gangster Sunil Pehalwan, who is believed to be linked to Bishnoi’s rival factions. A message received by Raghav claimed that Pehalwan protected the person responsible for killing Goldy Brar’s brother, Gurlaal and warned against cooperating with Brar. The message also named individuals such as Money Faridkot and Bantu, stating they continued to be close to Pehalwan and Sarwan despite a fallout with Brar, FPJ reported.
According to an ABP report, the case has been registered under sections 308(4), 351(3) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The Chandak family has requested immediate security arrangements and thorough investigation into the calls and audio threats received.
Speaking to the media, Chandak said he is a long-time BJP worker and that his wife, Karuna Chandak, has served as a municipal chairperson and even contested the state assembly polls as an independent candidate. The Sriganganagar police confirmed that they have begun a probe and assured appropriate action.
