A CCTV footage has captured the incident where the SUV seemed out of control as it sped through the narrow street. Several people were flung from bikes while others were thrown off the road after being hit by the vehicle.
The driver, Usman Khan, was caught after locals chased him and stopped the SUV. Usman was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and is now in police custody.
Local BJP leaders, meanwhile, have claimed that the accused Usman Khan is associated with Congress and he was also the city president of the party.
They also alleged that Congress MLA Amin Kagzi from Kishanpole was trying to save Usman after he was caught.
