Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles announced that it will present each member of India’s ICC Women’s World Cup winning cricket team with the first lot of the soon-to-be-launched Tata Sierra. The Tata Sierra, set to make its return on November 25, marks the revival of one of the Tata Motors' most iconic models.
The company said the gesture is meant to celebrate the team’s exceptional achievement and recognise their contribution to Indian sport. Each player will receive the top-end variant of the upcoming SUV.
The Indian women's cricket team beat South Africa by 52 runs to win their first-ever ICC Women's ODI World Cup in Navi Mumbai on Sunday night.

Earlier, India clinched the ICC Women’s World Cup title in dominant fashion, defeating South Africa by 52 runs in a rain-affected final, powered by all-round brilliance from Deepti Sharma and Shafali Verma. The duo not only struck fifties in India’s first innings but also dismantled the Protea batting lineup to script a historic win.
After a lengthy rain delay, South Africa opted to field first. Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma provided India with a strong start, putting on 106 runs for the opening wicket. Mandhana fell for 45 to Chloe Tryon, while Verma top-scored with a fluent 87 before being caught by Sune Luus off Ayabonga Khaka. Jemimah Rodrigues (24) and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (20) added brief contributions before the lower order steadied the innings.
Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh ensured a solid finish for India, adding crucial runs in the death overs. Deepti crafted a composed 58 off 58 balls before being run out, while Ghosh chipped in with a brisk 34 off 24, taking India to a competitive total of 298.
Chasing 299, South Africa began steadily with Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits adding 51 runs for the first wicket. However, Amanjot Kaur’s sharp fielding ended Brits’ stay, and soon Sree Charani struck to remove Anneke Bosch for a duck.
Wolvaardt held the innings together with a masterful century, but wickets fell at regular intervals as India’s spinners tightened their grip. Shafali Verma dismissed Sune Luus (25) and Marizanne Kapp (4), while Deepti Sharma ran through the middle order, claiming five wickets in total. Her spell included key breakthroughs of Annerie Dercksen (35) and Wolvaardt (100), whose dismissal effectively sealed the contest.
From there, South Africa’s chase unraveled, with Tryon, Khaka, and de Klerk all falling in quick succession. Deepti capped off a sensational all-round performance with her fifth wicket as India bowled out the Proteas for 246, sparking jubilant celebrations.
