Mahindra & Mahindra will globally premiere its next all-electric SUV, the XEV 9S, on November 27. The upcoming model will be a 7-seater SUV built on the company's dedicated INGLO skateboard architecture.
The XEV 9S will expand Mahindra's electric vehicle (EV) portfolio, following one year since the debut of its first INGLO platform-based models, the BE 6 and the XEV 9e.
The company described the new model as its first 'authentic 7-seater electric SUV', developed from the ground up as a born-electric product rather than a conversion of an internal combustion platform.
The INGLO skateboard architecture enables a flat-floor design, providing a spacious cabin layout and enhanced flexibility. Mahindra said the XEV 9S will feature sliding second-row seats to improve comfort and optimise legroom. The platform's low centre of gravity, enabled by the underfloor battery pack, is expected to improve stability and ride quality.
According to Mahindra, the XEV 9S has been developed to combine 'power, presence, and pure electric performance' while offering practicality suited to larger families. The company has not disclosed technical specifications such as battery capacity, range, or motor output yet. These details are expected to be revealed during the global premiere later this month.
The unveiling of the XEV 9S coincides with Mahindra's completion of one year since launching the BE 6 and the XEV 9e. While the BE 6 is priced between Rs 18,90,000 and Rs 28,54,000 (ex-showroom), the XEV 9e sits in the price bracket of Rs 21,90,000 to Rs 31,25,000 (ex-showroom).
The new model is part of Mahindra's wider strategy to establish a strong presence in the EV space, which is presently dominated by rival Tata Motors.
