Tata Steel - Clarification

With reference to various media reports dated July 26 and 27, 2012 regarding Tata Steel Limited''s plans to merge Tata Sponge Iron Limited and The Tinplate Company of India Limited with itself, Tata Steel Ltd has clarified to BSE that, as of the date of this letter, there are no current and active plans to merge Tata Sponge Iron Limited and The Tinplate Company of India Limited with Tata Steel Limited.
