To rebuild I O C Rs 160 cr Needed

To rebuild Indian Oil Corporation Ltd’s (IOC) depot in Jaipur, which was destroyed by fire, over Rs 160 crore is needed.

In a suo motu statement made in Parliament on the incident of fire at POL depot of IOC at Sanganer, Jaipur, the Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Mr Murli Deora, on Friday said that “the replacement cost of buildings and machinery is estimated to be over Rs 160 crore.”

It is estimated that petroleum products worth approximately Rs 146 crore were lost. The terminal was commissioned in 1995 and had 11 storage tanks for motor spirit, high speed diesel and superior kerosene Oil.

“All 11 tanks in the depot have been completely destroyed. The product is insured and the timeframe for rebuilding the infrastructure at the terminal would be about two years,” the Minister said.

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOC) is looking to invest up to Rs 1,500 crore in its maiden nuclear venture in partnership with Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL).

The oil major is eyeing the nuclear generation space as it sees assured returns on investments. It is actively looking at project capacities ranging from 2x700 MWe to 2x1,650 MWe in the first phase.

To start with, IOC will be investing close to Rs 1,500 crore in one project, and this investment can be increased as we get more projects,” Mr B. M. Bansal, Director (Planning and Business Development), IOC

IOC losing Rs 92 cr daily on fuel sales

State-run Indian Oil Corp (IOC) is losing Rs 92 crore per day on sale of petrol, diesel, domestic LPG and kerosene as government has not allowed it to revise rates in line with firming international oil prices.
