India To Become KPO Major By 2010
According to a recent report by research firm RNCOS, India should be able to capture 15% of the global KPO market, come 2010.
Estimated to be around $54 billion in 2005, the growing global KPO market will present tremendous opportunities for Indian companies in the future said the report. However, the government and IT/BPO sectors in India will have to work together to increase the Indian share in global KPO market. To do this, the country will have to look beyond US and find out new markets for its KPO business.
India is benefiting from these KPOs, both in terms of cost and more and more companies turning towards India to offshore their work at comparatively cheaper rates. For example, drafting & filing of patent applications is very expensive in US.
Growing demand of KPO in India is particularly due to a number of prestigious technical universities and IIT (Indian Institute of Technology), that’s amongst the bests in the world. Each year, India produces over 75,000 IT graduates and more than 20 Lac of English speaking graduates.
Currently, India makes up only about 11% of total export revenue from BPO-ITES.
