In the century old Murugappa Group women take care of the softer side of the business, that's CSR and cultural activities. In the 25 year Apollo Hospitals Group, first generation entrepreneur Prathap Reddy didn't think twice about involving his children, all daughters in the core business. 

Now, these two views represent the two sides of the debate when it comes to the role that women play in family run businesses in India.

The Reddy sisters are only one of the many women at the helm of family businesses today. The Chauhan sisters are heading Parle Agro, Tanya and Nisa Godrej are at the helm of affairs at the Godrej Group and women of the TVS Group are other prominent examples.
