Sep 25 2012, 13:26   |   By PTI

The BSE on Friday on Friday said that it has begun  providing research reports from independent research agencies on the companies listed on small and medium enterprises exchange (SMEs) platform. The exchange is planning to provide research coverage within four to eight weeks of the SME company getting listed on BSE.

The move would improve the information availability as well as raise the credibility of these companies, which would eventually help investors. Besides, the initiative would create and disseminate company-specific research reports focused on small and mid-cap companies, which do not have any research coverage.

"The BSE has begun to provide research reports on these (SME)companies from independent research agencies," the bourse said in a statement. The periodic updates and revised research reports on the companies covered under the programme would also be provided on the stock exchange's website.

Market regulator Sebi has already mandated exchanges to provide research reports on small stocks for investors on their respective websites. The BSE had launched BSE SME exchange, which caters to small and medium enterprises, in March this year.
