Arvind Rao, chief executive officer and managing director, Onmobile Global in an interview to CNBC-TV18 spoke abour the recent happenings in the company and the road ahead. Below is the edited transcript of Rao's interview with CNBC-TV18. Also watch the accompanying video. Q: In the event of an adverse ruling of cancelling the 3G intra-circle roaming agreements which is currently under litigation, do you expect any significant impacts? A: Right now, the revenues that we are getting from 3G services or 3G value added services is negligible. So it will take a long period of time for the basic core 3G services to scale up and then based on that, we can get some cut of that for value add services. So this is not going to have any effect on us. Q: How will your Latin American operations impact the EBITDA and the bottom line? A: I can’t discuss any numbers because we are close to releasing our third quarter results. But the overall result from our international operations, in particular both Latin America as well as Europe, are doing extremely positive and completely on track. Q: What is been the kind of subscriber addition in Latin America because that is looked upon as a significant driver? A: Again, I don’t want to discuss any specific numbers, but the question is that we had some projections about how large the market could be on a five year basis. Given the experience that we have seen in other emerging markets, which was the basis on which we decide to make the investment in that continent in a major manner. So far after about year and a half of being in that business and going live, the results on our quarter-on-quarter basis are on track. We are very happy with the results. Q: Any more countries that you are expected to go live in? A: No, all the major countries have been done. There are a few minor countries in Central America which are left but we have covered about 85-90% of the sub base. More important than that is the depth of the product that we are planning to launch. Our current contract says that we have to launch about almost 20 products over a contract period and so far we have launched hardly three or four of them. So even within the existing coverage there is a huge upside to be done as we launch. Q: When will you be launching the remaining ones? A: In a phased manner. These things take time because telcos cannot launch multiple products in the same market at the same time. So it doesn’t work from a stand point of maximizing the revenue. So we are doing it step by step by step. Post Your Comment
