Apple replied to a post on Reddit and ensured action to fix the issue
Technology giant Apple on Thursday confirmed that there are concerns regarding the responsiveness of iPhone X’s screen during extreme temperatures.
Replying to the query regarding the issue, Apple informed the tech blog The Loop that the company is “aware of instances where the iPhone X screen will become temporarily unresponsive to touch after a rapid change to a cold environment. After several seconds the screen will become fully responsive again. This will be addressed in an upcoming software update.”
The problem first came to light after a Reddit user named ‘darus214’ posted on the site that the screen of his iPhone X was becoming unresponsive when it suddenly gets exposed to cold weather. The post adds further, “literally takes 2 seconds from going inside to the cold outdoors and my screen stops being very responsive. I try swiping on websites and it doesn't register my finger. It's very noticeable.”
Many other users responded to the post where they conveyed similar problems. Some also came up with a possible explanation saying that the effect that light had on infrared camera and light sensor for FaceID authentication on the front may be the reason behind it.
Others claimed that iOS device screens could become unresponsive outside Apple’s recommended temperature range of 0 to 63 degrees Celsius.Though it is still unclear that what is the real reason behind the issue, the fact that Apple has come forward immediately and accepted it is being seen as a positive action from the company.
