Aizawl, Feb 16 (PTI) Zofa Welfare Organisation filed an FIR at the Mizoram-Assam border Bairabi police station against the officials of the Assam's Cachar district Forest department officials for forcibly confiscating timber from the Mizo farmers. The Zofa Welfare Organisation leader Vanlalngaia told media persons today that they filed the FIR yesterday urging the police to take appropriate action under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989. "We sent the copies of the FIR to the state Home Minister, chief secretary and top police officials to ensure that swift and appropriate action is taken," Vanlalngaia said. He said that the Cachar Forest department officials illegally entered into Mizoram recently and forcibly took teak and other timbers belonging to the Mizos which were also grown inside the Mizoram territory.
