supply to Ratnagiri Hyderabad, Aug 4 (PTI) The YSR Congress today demanded that the Centre immediately cancel its order diverting two MMSCMD of natural gas to Ratnagiri in Maharashtra from the KG Basin. "We will launch an agitation and also take legal steps if the Centre did not revoke the gas allocation order," Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy and party's advisor Somayajulu told newsmen here today. The Centre had issued an order on August 1 that two million metric standard cubic meters per day (MMSCMD) of gas be diverted from the Krishna-Godavari Basin to the Ratnagiri power plant in Maharashtra. Already starved of gas for its power plants that have been working with a plant load factor of only 30 per cent, Andhra Pradesh would now get only 1.48 MMSCMD of gas from Reliance's D6 wells. YSR Congress honorary president Y S Vijaya has written a letter to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issue, they said. "Diversion of natural gas, cutting into the supply to our gas-based power plants, and allocating it to Ratnagiri Power Project in Maharashtra, which has no gas linkage from KG-basin, deprives us of our needs as the state is already reeling under heavy power shortage," Vijaya said in the letter.
