Aurangabad (Bihar), Feb 10 (PTI) Work for a power project being set up jointly by NTPC and Railways at Nabinagar in Aurangabad district, remained affected for the sixth day in a row today due to protest and demonstration by displaced persons, official sources said today. Hundreds of displaced persons were on a sit in demonstration in front of the main gate of the site affecting work for the 1000 MW power project being set up Bhartiya Rail Power Company Ltd in support of their seven-point demands, including rehabilitation and compensation. The displaced persons were spearheading the agitation under the banner of the Struggle Committee of the Displaced Farmers and Mazdoors. President of the Committee, Ram Prasad Singh, threatened to further intensify the agitation saying the displaced people had been cheated when the land was being acquired from them for the project. "We want that the displaced farmers receive Rs 22 lakh per acre for the land acquired for the proposed project. One eligible member of each of the displaced families should also be given a government job," Singh said. The foundation stone for the project was laid on November 22, 2007. PTI COR AJK NN
