Woman jumps off from second floor to evade rape attempt

New Delhi, Dec 31 (PTI) A woman was injured after she jumped off the second floor of a building to escape a rape attempt in north Delhi, police said today. The incident took place last night in Begumpur. The victim, pursuing a lab technician's course, jumped off the building and became unconscious. The man who attempted to rape the woman - who is is in her early 30s and a native of Haryana - was identified as Parvinder. She had gone to meet her friend Vishal at his house in Begumpur area. At the time of the incident, Vishal had gone out for buying something. In the mean time, Vishal's friend allegedly tried to rape her. The woman was taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for treatment by Vishal and Parvinder when she became unconscious. The incident came to light when the victim was being taken to hospital in a car, a passerby suspected that it was a case of abduction and informed police.
