Wheat arrival continues in Punjab, procurement reaches 128 LT

Chandigarh, May 25 (PTI) Wheat procurement has reached record level of 128 lakh tonne in the ongoing rabi marketing season so far in Punjab. The state-run procurement agencies have been the bulk buyers of crop as they lift 127.04 lakh tonne of wheat while private traders procured just 2,141 tonnes of crop. Wheat procurement this year has gone far ahead of the targeted purchase of 115 lakh tonne. Centre's procurement agency FCI procured 19,18,761 tonne which is 14.99 per cent of total purchase.
