New Delhi, Feb 2 (PTI) With his country facing an uncertain future due to impact of global warming, Seychelles President James Alex Michel today made an emotional appeal to people across the world to put pressure on their governments to adopt sustainable means of development. Addressing a session at the 12th Delhi Sustainable Development Summit being organised by the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) here, Michel said the Seychelles, an island country, is environmentally vulnerable to the potential effects of climate change and associated extreme events. "We are running out of time.... What I am asking....put pressure on your on governments" to take sustainable measures to protect the world from global warming, he said. In the session also attended by Finnish President Tarja Halonen and President of the Republic of Kiribati Anote Tong, Michel held the developed nations responsible for the global warming that threatens the existence of island nations across the world. "Our coasts have been eroded. Our islands are in danger. Our fishermen cannot earn anything properly now because of fish migration, because of warming of ocean. We are facing prolonged draught. We have no water. We have no capacity for holding of water for years," he told the conference.
