Vadodara corporation approves budget sans raise in water tax

Vadodara, Feb 18 (PTI) Vadodara Municipal Corporation tonight approved Rs 2170 crore budget for year 2012-13 without raising the water tax and residential property tax for citizens. "Despite decline in surplus income, no hike in taxes is proposed in the budget although salary and pension bill has gone up by Rs 90 crore in wake of the Sixth Pay Commission,"Standing Committee chairman Vijay Shah said. Hike in water charges for certain categories of commercial and industrial properties is ruled out by the committee, he said. VMC will also receive a total grant of Rs 600 crore from Gujarat government under Swarnim Scheme...out of which Rs 300 crore have already been received, Shah said. PTI CORR
