Two killed, two injured in tanker blast

Ghaziabad, May 25 (PTI) Two persons, including a woman, were killed and as many critically injured when a scrapped oil tanker exploded here today, police said. The incident took place this morning in an open field in Hindon Vihar locality when three gas welders, engaged by a scrap dealer, tried to cut open the tank. When the welders were opening the cover, the tank exploded, killing one of them -- identified as Subrat -- on the spot. A woman, Noor Jahan, who was cutting grass in a field near by succumbed to her injuries en route the hospital. Two other women, Zarina and Shaheen, who were injured in the blast, were rushed to a hospital where their condition was stated to be critical, SP City Shivshankar Yadav said. Investigations are on and the people responsible for it will be punished, Yadav said.
