Turmeric price touched Rs 4700 a quintal

Erode, July 6 (PTI) Prices of turmeric has touched Rs 4700 a quintal after several months in the erode market today. Turmeric one of the commercial crops of the district has been cultivated over 10,000 hectares of land. The yellow spice fetched Rs 17600 a quintal last year January. In January the finger variety turmeric was sold at Rs 4670 a quintal and Rs 4267 a quintal of root variety, decreased to Rs 3720 a quintal in March. The Tamil Nadu Government had recently arranged procurement of turmeric at Rs 4000 a quintal.
