Jammu, Jan 24 (PTI) State Minister for Transport Qamar Ali Akhoon today directed the State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) authorities to maintain coordination among its various units to ensure that vehicles needing minor repairs are made road worthy in minimum possible period. "The management should further improve over all working of the Corporation, particularly, mechanical workshop. SRTC authorities should maintain coordination among its various units to ensure that vehicles needing minor repairs are made road worthy in minimum possible period," he said at a meeting to review SRTC's functioning. To increase profit is the primary requirement for improvement of SRTC's financial health, he said, adding that judicious use of funds can play a major role in achieving this goal. The minister said mechanical workshop is the nerve of the Corporation and asked concerned officers to bring more efficiency in their units. He said keeping the vehicles parked for months together just for minor repairs or replacements is not a sign of efficiency and such practice will affect the financial stability of the Corporation. "The more vehicles are off the road, the less are the chance of increasing profit," he said.
