Speed trial begins in Nagore-Karaikal section

Karaikal, Dec 6 (PTI): Southern Railway has commenced a three day speed trial run in the newly constructed Karaikal-Nagore broad gauge section. Around 10:45 AM yesterday morning, an engine alone reached Karaikal from Nagore and returned. Later, the engine connected with a few bogies was run between Nagore- Karaikal and back. The speed trial run will conclude tomorrow. The 11-km long line has two railway stations, seven major bridges, 40 minor bridges and 12 level-crossings and is awaiting safety inspection for commencing passenger traffic. People of the area expect the Railways to commence train service before Sanipeyarchi festival scheduled on Dec 21. PTI COR APR
