Shillong, Feb 18 (PTI) Security was beefed up in Meghalaya ahead of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram's visit to the state capital Shillong tomorrow, police sources said today. Chidambaram is slated to arrive in the morning to review security preparedness and law and order situation besides other issues concerning the state. A police officer said all necessary arrangements have been made as per the prescribed guidelines. "Adequate security for the Home Minister will be provided during his visit," Director General of Police N Ramachandram told PTI. "All measures have been taken into consideration and police personnel have been asked to beefed up security," East Khasi Hills district Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal said. The review meeting will be chaired by Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and his cabinet colleagues and senior government officials. The Union Home Minister will join Governor R S Mooshahary at lunch at the Raj Bhavan, before he departs. The Home Minister's visit to Meghalaya came a month after the Centre deemed the Garo Hills-based Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) a terrorist group.
