Thane, Feb 10 (PTI) Maharashtra Minister of State for Home, Satej Patil today said the Congress is taking the February 16 civic elections in the state very seriously and is making every effort to capture power in maximum corporations to fulfil its promises. Addressing a news conference at Ulhasnagar township ahead of the ensuing civic elections, he said the party was aware that it has to fight the forthcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections slated for 2014 and hence does not want to take any chances in the civic elections. He said, "if the voters give us absolute power, we will prove our worth and keep up the promises in the manifesto." In reply to a question he said that he had enough experience in conducting civic affairs as he was controlling the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation and hence steps taken by him would surely be beneficial. He said Shiv Sena and other parties, together has ruined the township and appealed to people to give one chance to the Congress-NCP to transform it. He said the party will deal with the issue of vertical growth of the town and will prioritise on potable drinking water, good communication, health services, drainage, deciding on the unauthroised constructions etc.
