Coimbatore, Feb 21 (PTI) Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi today assured that various demands pertaining to railways from the region would be examined. Replying to a specific question on the demand for diverting 13 major trains, which are going through nearby Podanur, through the city station, he said he had all the details and would take a decision after examining them. On providing more basic amenities at the railway station, he said the Ministry had plans to modernise all the railway stations in the country. +Giving facelift and providing amenities to Coimbatore is part of ministry's plans and the station would not be left out,+ Trivedi, on his way to Palakkad to lay foundation for a Rail Coach manufacturing unit, said. Trivedi told a delegation of Coimbatore Railway Struggle Committee that he was aware of the issues and soon a decision would be taken on them. The demands included Coimbatore-Rameswaram overnight train, which was operated as a special winter train last year covering eight district headquarters of Tamil Nadu, making Coimbatore-Mayiladuthurai Jan Shatabdi Express and Mettupalayam Coimbatore passenger a daily train and extension of Bangalore-Jodhpur Express to Coimbatore and extension of Coimbatore-Jaipur Express to Ajmer, the committe coordinator, G K Nagaraj, who met the minister, said.
