Amritsar, Feb 18 (PTI) Punjab's cabinet minister Laxmi Kanta Chawla, along with her party BJP workers, today staged a protest at the railway station here protesting alleged mismanagement by railways of loss-making service of Duronto express train between Chandigarh and Amritsar. Chawla, minister for Social Security and Development, carried carrying placards containing slogans against the Railway Minister accusing him of being responsible for "loss-making" Duronto service running between Amritsar and Chandigarh for the past several months due to "exceedingly less number of passengers". Chawla, who also looks after Women and Children portfolio, said Duronto suffered loss due to "mismanagement" of Railway Ministry since the train did not have a halt anywhere between Amritsar and Chandigarh. She said there was a dire need to give a stoppage at Jalandhar and Ludhiana to make the train financial viable otherwise Railway Ministry may find excuse to snap the service of this train.
