Chennai, Feb 17 (PTI): The Government has issued orders to implement Chennai Mega city Development mission for 2011-12, for which Rs 500 crore will be released to the nodal agency, Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructural Financial Services Limited. The amount, for which provision was made in the budget estimate/revised estimate 2011-12 would be released to TNUIFSL, which would be the fund management agency, a release from Corporation of Chennai said. It said funding would be restricted to its projects and that of Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board. The release said 42 local bodies have been merged with the corporation, increasing city area from 174 sq km to 426 sq km Administrative approval had been accorded for Rs 333.27 crore for road grids identified in eight expanded areas for integrated development. It said funds available under the mission are around Rs 308 crore and the balance of 25.2 crore would be met by the corpor The project sanctioning committee also considered and approved 360 roads of 175.36 km, it said.
