Bhubaneswar, Feb 20 (PTI) The budget session of Odisha assembly begining tomorrow is likely to be stormy as the ruling BJD will raise the proposed Mineral Resource Rent Tax (MRRT) issue and the opposition Congress is determined to attack the government on the series of rape cases and recent hooch tragedy. "The BJD will raise the issue relating to the Centre's lack of concern for imposing the MRRT on the mines owners who made windfall profit without making any investment," Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik told reporters. Though the chief minister has been making demand to impose MRRT in the line of a similar tax stracture in Australia, Patnaik said the Centre was yet to take a decision on his proposal. While mines owners had been earning super normal profit, the poor people living in mine area were denied their rights. "I have been demanding share of profit for the poor people," Patnaik said adding that other issues would also be raised during the 29-working days of the buedget session. Asked whether the ruling party would raise the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) issue in the assembly, Patnaik said, "We will examine it also." The opposition Congress on the other hand said that it would raise law and order situation, particularly a series of rape incidents in the state. "We will also certainly raise the issue of hooch tragedy that claimed 35 lives due to negligence of the state government," Congress Chief Whip Prasad Harichandan said. PTI AAM PR
