Pune, Feb 18 (PTI) MNS president Raj Thackeray today criticised the proposed post-poll alliance between NCP and Congress to work out a majority in the hung house of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), saying it will amount to "mockery of people's sentiments". Both the parties had fought the just-concluded PMC polls independently, with NCP emerging as the single largest party winning 51 seats in the 152 member strong house, in which, Congress has secured 28 seats. Thackeray, whose MNS sprung a surprise winning 29 seats and coming second in the seat tally, edging past Congress, talking to reporters here, wondered as to how such kind of alliances were "tolerated". The MNS leader was in the city to thank his workers and the citizens for their support to his party, which improved its tally to 29, from seven in the last civic polls. He is "overwhelmed" by the voters' response that MNS had received in Pune civic polls, he said adding that his party would endeavour to take up the issue of basic amenities, while playing the role of the Opposition in the house. Thackeray said, MNS had emerged as a "viable alternative" in the elections.
