Madurai, Feb 21 (PTI): A Naxal state committee member, absconding since 2008 after a TADA court issued a non-bailable warrant against him, has been arrested at Thanjavur and remanded to judicial custody, police said. The 'Q' wing, the special branch of Tamil Nadu police that deals with extremist activities, nabbed him at the town yesterday. Police said Manivasakam, a member of a Naxal party's state committee, had close links with its Politbureau. After his arrest in 2002, he had confessed to being just a messenger of the unit following which he was released, they said. However investigations revealed he was an active member of the party, they said, adding that a number of cases are pending against him.
