National convention on library and infotech begins

Vadodara, Nov 20 (PTI) Vice-President Hamid Ansari today said library professionals should focus on advancements in the field of library science so as to benefit from them. In a message to the organisers of 15th national convention on knowledge, library and information technology, he said "in this fast developing technology era, this convention will prove an important platform for the library professionals to discuss many issues." The three-day convention, organised by M S University and Developing Library Network (DELNET), began here today. In his message, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the delegates and participants to deliberate on libraries for future. In the information age, library and information science profession play an important role. H K Kaul, Director of DELNET and a member of National Library Mission, said 250 delegates from over two dozen states are attending the convention whose theme is "Libraries for the future: Collection, competencies and cooperation". The conference will specifically focus on open source library management software, Sangeeta Kaul of DELNET said. PTI COR RSY
