Naga CS, ACS go on leave as son contesting polls

Kohima, Feb 9 (PTI) Nagaland Chief Secretary Alemtemshi Jamir and Additional Chief Secretary Banuo Z Jamir have gone on leave as their son is contesting the February 23 assembly election, state Chief Electoral Officer J Alam said today. The EC has accepted the leave application of Alemtemshi Jamir and his wife Banuo Z Jamir, also Commissioner Nagaland, since February 7 on the grounds that their son Merentoshi R Jamir was a candidate in the election. Merentoshi is contesting on Naga People's Party (NPF) ticket from Mongoya constituency in Mokokchung district against incumbent minister and Congress candidate Ngangshi K Ao. Alam said the two would be on leave till the completion of the election in the state. He said the EC has also approved the names of two Additional Chief Secretaries – Toshi Aier and H K Khulu -- to take the charge of Chief Secretary and Commissioner Nagaland respectively till the entire election process is over.
