Thane, Jul 20 (PTI) The Thane district rural police today found a highly decomposed body of a school teacher abandoned in the bushes of Musgaon woods of Wada taluka. He was alleged to have been killed by a person whom he had lent money and the police have launched a hunt to nab him. Inspector Sanjay Dhumal of Wada police station said that body of the 44-year old school teacher Sanjay Sonawane, bore wounds and his neck had mark of strangulation and the body has been since sent for postmortem. Police said that a missing person complaint was lodged with the police by his brother on July 17, 2012 when he did not return home. A frantic search was carried out by family members and the police since the last three days but of no avail. According to police, Sanjay had lent Rs 5.75 lakh as loan to one Jitendra Patil. On July 17, there was a dispute between the two over the returning of the money following which Patil allegedly along with his friends abducted Sanjay from the village and took him to Shirish Pada and later killed him by smashing his head and also strangulating him. The police further said that the killers later dragged his body to a jungle in the village Musgaon and covered it with tree leaves to destroy evidence. However, as the foul smell emanated from the area today, the passers by informed the police who found the highly decomposed body with several wounds and mark of strangulation. Meanwhile, a hunt is on for Jitesh Patil and his accomplices, the police said.
