Medical research centres to be set up at Gaya, Muzaffarpur

Patna, Feb 10 (PTI) Bihar government has decided to set up medical research centres at Gaya and Muzaffarpur. Principal secretary to the health department Amarjit Sinha said the research centres would be set up with the Centre's help. The state government, he said, has approached the Indian Medical Research Council(ICMR) to open research centres at the state-run Shri Krishna Medical College Hospital in Muzaffarpur and Anugrah Narain Medical College Hospital in Gaya with the help of ICMR. "We have requested the ICMR director general V M Katoch to speed up the work," Sinha said adding several children died of encephalitis and other diseases in Gaya and Muzaffarpur last year. The research centre will ensure early diagnosis and suggest measures to check the diseases and undertake research of prevention of encephalitis, chickenguniya and kala-azar, he added. PTI AJK KK
