New Delhi, Jan 9 (PTI) The Medical Council of India (MCI) today decided to hold the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to all MBBS courses across the country in 2013. The Board of Governors of the MCI, which met here today, cleared the decision for delaying the common medical entrance exam by one more year in view of recommendations received to this effect from the Union Health Ministry recently. The MCI also cleared the amendments to the notification for holding the NEET and sent the same for approval to the Union Health Ministry. The notification for holding the NEET in May 2012 was earlier issued in November 2010 but amendments to the notification were sought by the MCI for changing the marking system for the exam. The Medical Council of India (MCI) had already finalised the syllabus for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) for admission to MBBS courses and had fixed May 13 for holding the exam this year. The CBSE was to conduct the exam on behalf of the MCI. (more)
