Kerala sets up SIT to probe fishermen killings

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 21 (PTI) Kerala Police tonight set up a Special Investigation Team headed by Kochi City Police Commissioner M R Ajith Kumar to investigate the killing of two Indian fishermen allegedly by the marines aboard the Italian ship Enrica Lexie. Kerala DJP Jacob Punnose told PTI that the team would have Kollam SP Sam Christie Daniel and selected Crime Branch officers as its part. The detailed composition of the team would be decided shortly, he said. Fishermen Valentine Jalastine and Ajeesh Binki were shot dead allegedly by marines on the ship on February 15 off Kollam coast. The arrested marines Latore Massimiliano and Salvatore Gironi were yesterday sent to police custody for three days after being remanded in judicial custody for 14 days by a court in Kollam.
