Jammu, Feb 9 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir Special Anti- Corporation Court has ordered a probe by the State Vigilance Organisation into allegations of multi-crore scams against Congress minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din. Special Judge (Anti-Corruption) Pawan Dev Kotwal directed Jammu SVO SSP to verify the allegations of multi-crore scams in PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control departments during the tenure of Taj and take necessary action, officials said here today. The direction was given in response to a complaint filed by Jan Mohammed Rishi, a resident of Jammu's Nowabad area, against Taj. Rishi alleged crores of rupees were swindled in the multi-crore scam in PHE Division, Rajouri by giving contracts without tenders. He also alleged sub-standard water pipes worth crores of rupees were procured and Rs 18 crore of National Rural Drinking Water Program was diverted to Bhaderah illegally during Taj's tenure as PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control minister. Meanwhile, welcoming the probe, Taj said it will give him an opportunity to prove his innocence. "I welcome the probe...This would clear the false and malicious impression being created by some vested interests about my integrity, honesty and conduct."
