Ranchi, Nov 17 (PTI) Jharkhand government today increased the monthly quota of grains from 20 kg to 35 kg for BPL families residing in all the 24 districts in the state. Following the decision at the cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Arjun Munda, BPL families would get 35 kg grains per month at the rate of Re 1/kg, Cabinet Secretary Aditya Swaroop told reporters here. The Supreme Court had recently directed the central government to provide 35 kg grains at Re 1/kg to BPL families in 150 districts across the country and 14 of these districts fall in Jharkhand, Swaroop said. But the cabinet, in principle, decided to give the benefit to BPL families residing in all the 24 districts, he added.
