New Delhi, Feb 8 (PTI) In the backdrop of the raging controversy in the UK over aid given to India, the Ministry of External Affairs today underlined its appreciation for the cooperation extended by Britain in a number of areas, which have contributed to country's overall development efforts. "Relations between India and UK are warm and friendly and have stood the test of time. "India appreciates the cooperation extended by UK in a number of areas, which have contributed to IndiaÂ's overall development efforts, particularly through capacity-building, exchange of best practices, knowledge-sharing and sharing of technology and technical expertise," official spokesperson in the MEA said. He said the bilateral cooperation between India and UK has been and remains mutually beneficial. Following government's decision to shortlist French company Rafale for the multi-billion USD military jet contract, questions have been raised in the UK as to why India should get any aid from Britain.
