Jamnagar (Guj), Dec 17 (PTI) A squadron leader with the Directorate of Air Force Adventure is all set to undertake a longest paramotor flight over the Arabian sea tomorrow. Squadron Leader Ramakant will start his journey from Mundra and cover the Bay of Kutch and land in Jamnagar covering total distance of about 55 km. Successful completion of this feat would also culminate into a new national record of longest paramotor flying over sea beating previous record of Army's 12 km flight in Agati islands (Lakshadweep). Paramotor is an ultra light flying machine which is also known as powered paraglider. The paramotor uses a small piston engine of 150 CC with propeller in conjunction with the paraglider. The machine is mounted on the back of the pilot, who inflates the glider run and then gets air borne. The paramotor can take off and land even in a small place. Paramotor, the lightest powered flying machine in the world, can travel at the speed of 45 kmph and climb up to 10,000 feet above the sea level. The machine can be used for aerial recce, photography, banner towing, petals dropping, recreational and adventure flying. This record attempt is being undertaken by an avid aero-sportsman and a qualified instructor on powered hang glider, paramotor, paragliding and parasailing, squadron leader Ramakant of the Directorate of Air Force Adventure. Ramakant also holds national records in powered hang gliding and has also been awarded the "Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award 2008" for his outstanding achievements in the field of aero sports.
