Panaji, Feb 10 (PTI) Election Commission of India's Goa branch officials today said that guidelines were followed during the controversial raid on the official house of a catholic priest. Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Narayan Navti, said the commission officials had acted as per the guidelines. Income Tax Department officials, deputed to the Election Commission, had raided the official residence of Fr Romano Gonsalves at Velim. The raid evoked a strong reaction, with Congress claiming that the EC's act could have sparked communal tension. A delegation led by state water resources minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues met EC officials today and sought apology over the raid. Chief Electoral Officer S Kumarswamy has asked the South District collector to hold a meeting in Velim and sort out the issue.
