Jaipur, Feb 16 (PTI) Rajasthan Governor Shivraj Patil today asked journalists to inspire and guide people with their responsible work. Speaking at the Jawahar Lal Darda Memorial Journalism award ceremony here, he underlined the importance of media in a democracy. With the passage of time, power and responsibility of journalists had increased and they should carry out their duties in a fair and objective manner, Patil said. Union Minister Dr C P Joshi said media should review what should be its role in the present scenerio. Expressing concern over paid news, he said the media should think over it because correct inputs, facts and information in public through media is a key factor to keep democracy strong. Vijay Darda, a Rajya Sabha member and Chairman of Lokmat Media Limited, said media is the voice of common man. Madan Kalal and Vishwanath were honoured with Jawahar Lal Darda Memorial Journalism award for 2010 and Moinuddin Chisty for 2011. Senior journalists Om Thanvi, Rajendra Shankar Bhatt and Ved Vyas were also honoured with Ashok Gehlot Mitrata award. Each award carries Rs 21,000. PTI SDA RKC
