Coimbatore, Feb 10 (PTI): Seeking immediate protection from frequent attacks by wild animals, some estate workers and villagers in Valparai in the district today ghearoed forest department officials who had gone there for a tiger census. Noticing the officials from Anamalai Tiger Reserve, the villagers surrounded them and sought protection by erecting electric fences in view of frequent attacks by tigers, leopards and elephants, police said. They dispersed after officials of Manampatti forest division assured them that work on laying a nine km fence sanctioned by the government would start soon.
